New album from 10cc's Graham Gouldman & Heart Full of Songs, feat. Brian May and Ringo Starr
10cc's Graham Gouldman will release a new solo-album early July, just in time for the July 5 and 6 shows in Concertgebouw Amsterdam and on Conincx Pop Festival (see further down below).
The album is called "I Have Notes" (Lojinx Records) and features Brian May (Queen), Ringo Starr (The Beatles), and Hank Marvin (The Shadows).
For the live-shows, Graham will be accompanied by three musicians who complete the '10cc's Graham Gouldman & Heart Full of Songs' lineup.

New album from Like A Motorcycle
Three bombastic queers and one very patient man: it's what Canadian punk rock band Like A Motorcycle from Halifax (NS) say to describe their lineup.
Their unique sound and excellent, often quite personal, lyrics can be heard on three fantastic albums: "High Hopes" (2016), "Dead Broke" (2020), and their brand-new album "Pretty Pleased" (Rookie Records), as well as on several other releases.

Rob Berends writes:
Punk rocker writing about IT

Write about what happens in your life and in the world around you, a motto that very much belongs to punk rock.
As you may or may not know, I was and still am a punk rocker at heart, and one that does his work consciously and with great care.
So, what happens in life? Very predominantly: IT issues! It keeps me occupied, and awake at night, since the start of the year.
Firstly, we changed our fiber-provider. But as it turned out, the new provider is one of the first to stop access to their mail-exchange-servers. That came as a surprise.
So we needed to change our settings for outgoing mail, but that required work on the command-line of the server in our office.
We now relay our emails via the system of our hosting-provider, who also host our domain-names and websites.
Big advantage: our DKIM-records are now much more useful, and: the relay-server from our hosting-provider that we now use has a very good reputation on the Internet.
Next headache-case that will also result in a better situation is: changing our server and the software running on it. Unfortunately it's End Of Life for that software soon. I've been working hard on finding the best new solution, and we have now picked a new setup out of a dozen alternative options. Still three weeks to go before we need to stop using the old setup. But: the migration to the new setup is 99,9% complete! I'm glad that soon I can relax a little bit: we'll be in time!
Since we try to use Open Source Software as much as possible, and try to stay away from the tech-giants as much as we can, the search is not an easy one. DIY ...
Anyway, in a few days it will all be migrated. I do hope (and expect) you will hardly notice, except maybe if you run into me and notice how tired (and soon, satisfied) I am!

Hilde Spille writes:
Spotting new talent and longing for home
In times that 'arrived' artists are doing extremely well, it seems even more important to the business to support upcoming talent. That's what I did last month. ArtEZ University of Arts asked me and two other people from the 'field' to come and watch their students in 12 bands. Each band played 10 minutes, with 15 minutes change-over. We had to put them in order from best to worse, from 12 to 1 points, and give some comments.
After some train problems, I arrived just in time to still see 1,5 songs from the first band. Dinner was before it all started, but I could get some warm food during one of the short breaks. The big variation in music made it difficult to judge, but easy to keep my mind at it. In the end, I spotted some very good talent. 3-4 bands really stood out, in various genres.
The winner of the contest will be doing a club tour through the Netherlands, with one band each from several other art universities. This way, young talent still gets a chance to go out and play. I hope that they will get an audience for this club tour!
It was pretty exhausting. Afterwards, with a glass of wine with two teachers in the hotel bar, they told me that it was the students who suggested to ask someone from Paperclip Agency. I feel very honored by that!
Next day, I was traveling to the other side of the country, to meet the team of Pussy Riot again, at the first of 5 Benelux shows at a packed Patronaat venue in Haarlem. I enjoyed meeting them again. We talked about culture, about missing your home country. I chose to stay in The Netherlands when I was 22 years old, and I can go back to Germany any time I want to. Still, in the beginning I often felt lonely and missed the German culture. I can't imagine how it is, to be forced to live in exile!
For many years already, home for me is Nijmegen in the Netherlands. I was very happy to be home again, after these two busy days. I took some time for me to enjoy home. Still lots to do in the garden, but that had to wait. I hope to get to it next weekend.
