Sufi Trail logo
Dear Sufi Trail friend ,
Were breathing flower scents looking over the colorful sea of tulips and are dreaming of the lands where the tulips came from. In Asia the tulp still grows wild, Melani Deegen traveling by bicycle from Holland to Kyrgyzstan is making the journey of the tulip back to his origin. The tapestry of east and west is always a good story. As a country that thinks, lives, breathes and loves the bicycle lifestyle we can’t wait to weave our route making skills in the fairytail country Uzbekistan. Were Rumi and many Sufi scholars have studied. The Rumi Trail is the big dream route that is now getting an official kick off, thanks to the embassy of Uzbekistan in Brussels especially with the help of Mr. Ambassador Dilyor Khakimov and First Secretary Babur Sabirov. The Startpoint of the route is in Nukus and via the blue wonders of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand we will map a bicycle route to Termez. As the final days of Ramadan 2021 are nearing we hope everyone has felt the lightness of being and can step into the world of light yet again. Ramadan mubarak to all.

love,
Sedat & Iris

Rumi Trail Uzbekistan

How does a route start and end? This is very simple but also complicated, it depends on how it suits you. Mevlana Rumi once traveled from his hometown Balkh to Uzbekistan to be taught by the great scholar of the time in the many madrassas (universities) of Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand. The start of the journey that Mevlana Rumi made in his life now gets a starting point, namely Nukus in the north of Uzbekistan.

The Rumi Trail cycle route is explored and mapped as far as Termez on the Afghan border. At the end of this year, just like with the Sufi Trail, a practical bicycle guide will be published with bicycle maps of 1: 100,000. To get an idea of the oldest knowledge center in the world and the cycling route, you can watch this wonderful film as well as the Rumi Trail visual map.

Flowers in May | Sufi Trail Netherlands

The bulbs were already planted late autumn, with a tractor they worked hard in the fields. There were even some who planted Allium by hand row by row. Then the wind, storm, rain and snow came and the fields had to be covered. Due to the good protection, some flower heads suddenly appeared right through the plastic covers. Every walk it was a surprise how far it would be with the flower bulbs. Now we celebrate the beautiful result of the bulb fields. The last time we walked by the tulpes were being cut, this is to make the bulb big and strong, all the flower tops were cleared. A small compilation of this wonder of the world.
