Dear Sufi Trail friend ,

Stormy and snowy winter and the flowers still bloom. The strength of such a delegate treasure as a flower always amazes me. It’s less than three months and we will be hiking on the Sufi Trail. The hiking caravan already has a great impuls in Eyup and Yalova. There are marble signs for the rose garden in Eyup and Yalova to welcome the new hikers. Travellers are preparing their journeys and it’s exciting to see the variations of pilgrimage.

Sufi hiking caravan

Bags packed, hiking-tent and gear for Turkey. It’s all set. Signs are made by the artistic people along the route, the marble man, Linda and Ahmet have prepared the Sufi Trail to welcome you. Sedat went to Yalova and Istanbul and we can safely say “let’s hike the Sufi Trail together”. It's easy to join just book you spot for the days you join the Sufi caravan. The first three days we will be around Yalova and also camp in Ormanika the first three days. After getting into the caravan mode, the caravan will leave and be on it’s way for 40 days.

Rose garden

In 2009 Sedat first set foot in Eyüp and hiked along with this very spot. After a long hike from the Netherlands to Istanbul reaching this point, the little cemetery caught his eye. It's a little touch away from no man's land in the hustle and bustle of the city. Like so many ideas that pop up in a blink, it takes years before you can realize it. We have set the first steps for realization by placing the marble art stone of Ahmet Doğan.

There are a few roses already planted but we need more to call it a genuine rose garden. Please consider planting a rose when you are there. You can find it near the historic fountain of Mühendis Ali Dede Çeşmesi, Aşhane Sokak, Nişanca. let the flowers begin.

Sufi marble signs

A well marked Sufi Trail. Already with stickers, red and white paint and project efforts we have parts marked. Till Iznik the Sufi Trail is fully marked. Now with the effort of Ahmet and Linda the marble signs will be placed. There will be more surprises to discover but we leave them a secret for you to reveal.

The love that went into developing the trail shows the little gift set you will get to make your pilgrimage unforgettable. Our Linda the artist has worked on the handpainted stone, who is also a Sufi hiker. The books, your passport are all made to interact with the people along the Sufi Trail and explain your pilgrimage to the people you meet. Even in the six years, we are now working on the Sufi Trail we see a big change. People now know there is a pilgrimage and wait for the pilgrims to come. The stamps are a perfect way to meet the village headman and a great souvenir for when you get home. This all with warm feet and a cool mind. Hiking or a pilgrimage is a perfect way to clear your head and warm your heart. Ready to go, check our our shop to get your starting pack. Available as long as we have them on the stock.

Hike with Linda

Our Turkish-Dutch artist Linda Pijl of the Sufi stones is very versatile and will be ready to walk with pilgrims on the Sufi Trail in 2022. The area has already been explored and marked before and two 12-day hiking trips are planned in September and October. Journey along the Sufi Trail with our versatile artist from Yalova and be inspired by the beautiful Anatolian landscape.

Thursday 24th of February there is a zoom meeting for the information you can sign up via sufitrail@gmail.com and meet Linda and your fellow hikers. You will get the link one day before and the meeting starts @ 19.30 Amsterdam time.
